IN September we talked about the context for the well known scripture in 2 Chronicles 7:14, and we concluded that God does not dwell in temples made by human hands. We also saw that scripture teaches us this wonderful truth: by the Holy Spirit God now longs to endwell people, and so fill the earth with His prescence.
NEW TESTAMENT CONNECTIONS to MEDITATE ON IN PRAYER:
- Setting people apart to be associated with His name was God’s plan from the beginning
(1 Peter 2:9; 1 Cor 1:2; 1 Thes 4:3, Hosea 2:23; Isaiah 65:1))
- Being called by His name carries great significance, but it incurs both blessing and persecution (Matthew 10:22)
- From an eternal perspective God watches over and sustains the Honour of His name throughout Israel’s history (Eph 5:27)
- As non-Jewish believers, we are drawn into a story of relationship that begun long before we were invited. The Promised Seed of Abraham, Jesus Christ, makes it possible for us to be considered the offspring of God, by faith. (See Romans 9, 10, 11)
- We are not our own, and the story is not about us. This should help us understand why we ought to come to God in a humble stance (Matt 23:12; 1 Peter 5:5)
- We bear the seal of God’s ownership through the blood of Christ and through the Holy Spirit, by faith and not by works (Eph 1:13).
